Our Story — From a Solar Night School to a Global Digital Platform

The story of SLUM School by Rohayl did not begin on a screen. It began under the open sky.

Mohammad Rohayl Varind, driven by a deep commitment to human dignity and equal opportunity, founded SLUM School — Pakistan’s first solar-powered night school designed specifically for child labourers and underprivileged youth who spent their days working and their nights without access to any education. Armed with solar lights and an unshakeable belief that every child deserves to learn, that school became a symbol of what one determined human being could do for others.

Then came Solar Bags by Rohayl — portable, solar-powered school bags created by Rohayl that generate electricity for learners in off-grid communities, turning the journey to school into a source of light and power. Recognized internationally for this innovation, Rohayl proved once again that the right idea, in the right hands, could transform lives at scale.

But Rohayl’s vision was never limited to one city, one school, or one country.
